The defining capability of an anti-sidebow chain is lateral pivotability. Adjacent links are joined by a hinge mechanism engineered to pivot around two independent axes simultaneously. The pivot bolt is fixed to the outer link, while the inner link engages through lateral pivot openings defined by separate support plates.
