Beskrivelse
Duplex Roller Chain
Double-Strand • ISO 06B-2 to 48B-2 • ANSI 40-2 to 240-2 • Up to 2x Simplex Capacity
Same Pitch • Same Sprocket Centre Distance • Double the Load Rating
Duplex roller chain — also referred to as double-strand chain — uses the same pitch, pin diameter, and sprocket tooth profile as the equivalent simplex chain, but adds a second parallel strand to nearly double the tensile load capacity without requiring a change in pitch or sprocket centre distance. This makes duplex chain the natural solution when a simplex drive is marginal in capacity but moving to a larger pitch would either create unacceptable sprocket size increases or require expensive modifications to existing shaft centres. Ever Power supplies duplex roller chain to ISO 606 (B-2 suffix) and ANSI B29.1 (-2 suffix) standards across the full pitch range, with matched-pair production ensuring strand-to-strand pitch variation is held within 0.05 mm per 30 pitches.

Per ISO 606:2015 and ASME B29.1-2011. Matched-pair sets available for critical drives — strand-to-strand pitch variation held within 0.05 mm per 30 pitches.
When to choose duplex over a larger pitch simplex: If your current simplex drive is approaching its fatigue limit but the next pitch up would require new sprockets and shaft modifications, duplex in the same pitch is almost always the more cost-effective solution. The sprocket bores, shaft centres, and guard clearances all stay the same — only the sprocket width and chain width change.
Matched-Pair Production
The most common failure mode in duplex drives is unequal load sharing between strands — one strand carries more than its theoretical half-share of the load, leading to accelerated wear and premature fatigue on that strand while the other is underloaded. This is caused by strand-to-strand pitch variation in the assembled kæde. Ever Power’s duplex production uses matched-pair assembly: both strands are cut from the same production batch and measured against each other before assembly, with strand-to-strand pitch variation controlled within 0.05 mm across any 30-pitch section. For safety-critical multi-strand drives in Sheffield steel facilities and Yorkshire mining operations, dimensional certification is provided with every matched-pair order.
