12A-G1 Rubber Top Roller Chain

The 12A-G1 rubber top chain is a type of roller chain that has rubber tops on the rollers. This makes it a non-marking chain, which means that it will not damage or mark sensitive materials, such as finished wood products, glass, or synthetic panels. The rubber tops also help to reduce noise and vibration, making this rubber top chain a good choice for applications where quiet operation is important. The 12A-G1 rubber top chain is commonly used in conveyor applications, such as those used to transport food, beverages, and other sensitive materials. It is also used in other applications where a non-marking chain is required, such as in manufacturing and assembly lines.

12A-G1 Rubber Top ChainThe 12A-G1 rubber top chain is an ISO-standard roller chain with vulcanized rubber pads bonded to the outer face of each roller. The elastomer crown eliminates direct metal-to-surface contact, making it a non-marking conveyor chain: it moves finished wood panels, float glass, synthetic laminates, painted automotive parts, and food packaging without leaving scratches, pressure marks, or contamination. The rubber layer also absorbs sprocket-engagement impulse noise, reducing airborne sound compared with bare-steel chains on the same conveyor frame.

At roller-chain-manufacturers.com we supply the 12A-G1 in carbon steel and stainless steel (SS304, SS316), with rubber pads in NBR (nitrile — oil and grease resistant) or NR (natural rubber — high grip), Shore hardness 65–75 or 75–85. All chains comply with ISO 606 / DIN 8187 / ANSI B29.1 and are manufactured under ISO 9001:2015.

Key Features

🛡️

Non-Marking Rubber Crown

Vulcanized rubber bonded to each roller protects lacquered wood, float glass, PVC panels, and clearcoat finishes from pressure marks and abrasion.

🔇

Noise & Vibration Damping

The elastomer absorbs sprocket-engagement impact energy, cutting airborne noise versus bare-steel chains — valuable where workplace noise limits apply.

31.8 kN Tensile Strength

ISO-compliant link geometry delivers the same load rating as a standard 60 (ANSI) chain — the rubber top adds protection without sacrificing capacity.

🔬

Two Rubber Grades

NBR resists petroleum oils and lubricants; NR provides higher friction for inclined or high-speed lines. Shore 65–75 or 75–85 balances grip against wear life.

🧼

Stainless Steel / Washdown Ready

SS304 / SS316 body + NBR pad option for food-grade conveyors, beverage bottling, and pharma packaging where CIP detergent washdown is routine.

🔧

Drop-in Sprocket Compatibility

Uses the ISO 12A / ANSI 60 tooth profile. Existing sprockets need not be replaced when retrofitting a bare-steel conveyor with rubber-top chain.

Typical Applications

Industry Use Case Why Rubber Top Chain
Wood & Panel MDF / plywood / laminate lines Zero surface marking on finished faces
Glass Processing Float glass cutting & tempering Soft contact prevents micro-cracks
Food & Beverage Bottling, canning, bakery lines SS + NBR for washdown; non-contaminating
Packaging Machinery Case packers, shrink tunnels Prevents carton scuffing and creasing
Automotive Paint-line & trim-assembly conveyors Protects clearcoat from contact marks
Electronics PCB & display-panel transport Low-vibration handling, no component shift

Matched 12A-G1 Sprockets

We supply hardened-tooth sprockets machined to the ISO 12A tooth profile (19.05 mm pitch) in three materials: C45 carbon steel (standard), 40Cr alloy steel (heavy-duty, tooth-hardened), and SS304 (food/pharma). Available bore styles include plain bore, keyway, QD bushing, and taper-lock; tooth counts 9T–120T held in stock.

Note: A worn or incorrect tooth profile will prematurely damage rubber pads even while the steel chain body remains serviceable. Contact our engineering team if you need a sprocket specification confirmed before ordering.
