Installation & Maintenance Guidelines
Correct maintenance is the single largest factor in achieving the full rated life of the 80HSP-00. Follow these guidelines:

Initial lubrication check: Inspect the factory-applied lubricant before installation. If the chain has been in storage for more than 12 months or shows dried lubricant, flush and re-lubricate with a chain-specific oil (ISO VG 100–150) before running. - 2
Correct initial tension: Set sag to 2–3% of the span length for drive applications. Over-tensioning is a leading cause of premature plate fatigue. - 3
Lubrication interval: In normal operating conditions, lubricate every 250 operating hours. In dusty or wet environments (quarrying, mining), reduce to every 125 hours. Use drip or bath lubrication where possible; avoid dry-running at all times. - 4
Elongation check: Replace the chain when measured pitch elongation exceeds 2% (≥ 25.9 mm average pitch over a 10-link span). Do not allow elongation to reach 3%, as sprocket tooth damage will follow rapidly. - 5
Sprocket inspection: When replacing the chain, always inspect the mating sprocket for hooked tooth wear. A worn sprocket will accelerate elongation of a new chain. Replace sprockets showing tooth face wear beyond 10% of original tooth width.
