ANSI 40 roller chain is the most widely stocked short-pitch roller chain in North American and export industrial markets. Built to ASME B29.1 with a 1/2 inch (12.70 mm) pitch, the 40 series covers simplex (40-1), duplex (40-2), and triplex (40-3) strand configurations, allowing load capacity to be doubled or tripled without changing the pitch or sprocket centre distance. Ever Power manufactures all three strand configurations from medium-carbon alloy steel, with case-hardened pins at 58–64 HRC, through-hardened bushings at 50–58 HRC, and shot-peened rollers for extended fatigue life. Standard finish is rust-preventive oil; stainless steel and nickel-plated variants are available on request.

Full Specification Table — ANSI 40 Series

Número da corrente Strands Passo (mm) Diâmetro do rolo (mm) Largura interna (mm) Diâmetro do pino (mm) Resistência mínima à tração (kN) Peso (kg/m)
40-1 1 12.70 7.92 7.85 3.96 17.8 0.62
40-2 2 12.70 7.92 7.85 3.96 35.6 1.20
40-3 3 12.70 7.92 7.85 3.96 53.4 1.78

Per ASME B29.1-2011. ISO 08A-1 cross-reference: same pitch, roller diameter differs (8.51 mm vs 7.92 mm) — not interchangeable on the same sprocket.

ISO Cross-Reference: ANSI 40-1 uses a 7.92 mm roller diameter. The nearest ISO equivalent (08A-1) has a 7.95 mm roller — functionally the same pitch but verify before fitting to existing sprockets. Not interchangeable with ISO 08B-1 (8.51 mm roller).

Material and Construction

Side Plates

SAE 1040–1050 cold-stamped medium-carbon steel. Work-hardened surface resists fatigue crack initiation at pitch holes.

Alfinetes

Gas-carburised alloy steel. Surface hardness 58–64 HRC, core hardness 35–45 HRC for fatigue and impact resistance.

Buchas

Through-hardened carbon steel, 50–58 HRC. Controlled interference press-fit prevents rotation under load without cracking.

Rolos

Shot-peened carbon steel, 58–64 HRC. Compressive residual stress extends fatigue life by 20–35% vs unpeened rollers.

Typical Applications — ANSI 40 Series

40-1 Simplex

Packaging machinery • Small conveyor lines • Agricultural equipment drives • General machine tool drives • Up to 3,200 RPM on 19-tooth sprocket

40-2 Duplex

Material handling equipment • Multi-drop conveyor systems • Where 40-1 tensile is marginal but 50-1 pitch is oversize for the centre distance

40-3 Triplex

Confined-space high-load drives • Replaces 50-1 or 60-1 where sprocket centre distance is fixed and a larger pitch cannot be accommodated
