20B-G1 Rubber Top Chain / Rubber Top Roller Chain
The 20B-G1 Rubber Top Chain is a conveyor-grade roller chain with a vulcanized rubber pad bonded to each link plate. It conforms to ISO 606 / DIN 8187 standards for the 20B series, with a 31.75 mm (1-1/4 inch) pitch and a single-strand (G1) row of 19.05 mm diameter rollers. The rubber top surface grips conveyed products firmly, eliminating slippage on inclined runs and protecting sensitive workpiece surfaces from metal contact marks.
This chain is widely used in food processing lines, packaging machinery, woodworking conveyor systems, glass-sheet transfer tables, and plywood production plants — anywhere a non-marring, slip-resistant conveying surface is required. Key Features of the 20B-G1 Rubber Top Chain
- Non-marring rubber surface. The vulcanized rubber pad provides a soft, scratch-free contact face. Finished wood panels, float glass, laminate boards, and polished metal parts pass through without surface damage — critical in woodworking lines and glass-transfer applications.
- High anti-slip grip. The rubber compound maintains firm contact with the conveyed load, preventing product shift on inclined or declining conveyor runs up to approximately 30°. This eliminates the need for additional hold-down guides in many layouts.

Installation & Maintenance Notes
Rubber top chains require less lubrication than standard roller chains because the rubber pad contacts the product, not the chain body. However, the pin-bush joint and roller still require periodic lubrication with a light mineral oil or chain-specific lubricant applied to the inner link area. Avoid spraying lubricant onto the rubber surface — oil contamination degrades NR pads and reduces grip on NBR pads.
Check initial sag and re-tension after the first 8–10 hours of operation under load, as new chains settle during run-in. Replace the chain when elongation reaches 2% of nominal pitch length (for a 20B chain: original pitch 31.75 mm → replace when measured pitch-per-link exceeds 32.38 mm over a 10-link span).
Inspect rubber pads monthly for cracking, delamination, or compression set. Replace worn pads before they cause surface-quality problems on the conveyed product. We supply replacement rubber pad inserts and connecting links as spare parts.
