Catene a rulli autolubrificanti serie SLR

Re-lubrication

The SLR Series Self-Lubrication Roller Chain combines standard ANSI / ISO roller-chain geometry with a sintered-bushing self-lubrication system, eliminating the need for scheduled re-oiling throughout the chain’s service life. A vacuum-impregnated, oil-bearing sintered bushing releases a continuous micro-film of lubricant into the pin–bushing interface under heat and pressure — the same zone where conventional chains wear fastest when lubrication is inadequate or missed.

The sintered bushing extends slightly beyond the inner plate face, forming a physical labyrinth seal that restricts the entry of airborne dust, textile fibres, grain particles, and other abrasives into the bearing joint. Paired with a chemically plated, surface-tempered bearing pin, this sealed-joint architecture produces a chain that outperforms externally lubricated standard chains in dusty, dry, or lubrication-restricted environments. All SLR chains are dimensionally interchangeable with standard ANSI / ISO roller chains.

How the Self-Lubrication System Works

01

Vacuum Impregnation

Sintered bushing is saturated with high-viscosity oil under vacuum during manufacture — every pore filled, no air pockets.

02

Thermo-pressure Release

Operating heat and mechanical pressure cause the bushing to release a micro-film of lubricant directly into the pin–bushing interface.

03

Sealed-Joint Protection

Extended bushing lip creates a labyrinth barrier, blocking dust and abrasives while the tempered pin resists surface wear.

Because the lubricant is stored inside the joint rather than applied externally, SLR chains resist the abrasive contamination that causes premature wear in standard chains — particularly in textile, grain-handling, and food-conveying environments.

Key Advantages

Maintenance-Free

No scheduled re-lubrication after installation — eliminates labour cost and unplanned downtime from missed oiling intervals.

Contamination Resistant

Extended sintered bushing + sealed-joint geometry blocks dust, grain, textile fibres, and metal particles from the bearing zone.

Lower Total Cost

Longer wear life, zero lubricant consumption, and fewer emergency replacements reduce total operating cost over the service period.

Drop-In Compatible

Identical ANSI / ISO face dimensions — retrofit into existing drives without sprocket changes or re-engineering.

Quieter Operation

Continuous lubricant film at the pin–bushing interface reduces metal-to-metal contact noise — critical on food-processing and packaging lines.

Material Options

Carbon steel (standard), stainless steel SS316, and nickel-plated variants cover a wide range of corrosion-resistance requirements.

Typical Applications

SLR chains are the preferred choice wherever conventional catena lubrication is restricted, contaminating, or maintenance-prohibitive:

Textile Machinery
Food & Beverage Conveyors
Attrezzature agricole
Packaging Machinery
Printing & Paper Handling
Light-Duty Conveyors
Any Lube-Restricted Environment

Operating Limits

Temperature: −10 °C to 60 °C (14 °F to 140 °F)  |  Shock load: low to moderate  |  Re-lubrication in the field: not possible — replace chain when worn. For high-shock or high-temperature drives, consult our engineering team.

Sprocket Selection

Because SLR chains are dimensionally identical to ANSI / ISO standard chains, no special sprockets are required. Select sprockets by the same criteria as a standard drive:

  • Pitch match: Sprocket pitch must equal chain pitch exactly — e.g., 25.4 mm for SLR-80 (16A-1).
  • Tooth count: 17–25 teeth on the drive sprocket for most industrial drives; higher tooth counts reduce polygonal effect at high speed.
  • Multi-strand: For duplex or triplex SLR chains, use matched multi-strand sprockets to distribute load evenly across all strands.
  • High-torque single shaft: Taper-bushed sprockets with double-strand SLR chains are an effective solution where space is limited and torque is high.

Matching sprockets for every SLR chain size are stocked as standard catalogue items. We can supply chain-and-sprocket matched sets — contact us with your chain number and drive layout.
